Hello everybody, it’s time for another Crafty Secrets Design Team Challenge, and this month it’s a technique challenge that’s anything to do with Sewing/Stitching. We could use a sewing machine or hand stitching, or a combination of the two. But the “technique” of stitching is what we were focusing on. My project today is a sweet little Christmas Ornament. It’s a tradition in our family to give our kids and grandkids one ornament each year, so this year I’m going to make them ;) we have all girls, and one boy so I started with pink for the girls. I do have a tutorial to share with you on how I made this cutie. Lots of pictures, and I think that is what is slowing down my post for everyone. I made the tutorial picture smaller this time, so maybe that will help.

Fold felt in half so you can cut two of the large Nested Mittens. NOTE: make sure the right sides are facing each other.
With a sewing machine, sew both mittens around edge, leave top open.
Thread your needle with a color of thread of your choice. Start at the top (inside), and pull toward the outside edge.
Insert needle back into felt about 1/4” from the beginning.
Pull needle through the loop as shown.
I counted down two sewing machine stitches, and repeated the same stitch as before.
Continue all the way around the mitten.
Select your image. Put Glossy accents on one side of the fragment, and place on the image. Do this for all four pieces.
When dry, cut out all fragments as shown above.
With the same color of thread, pull through holes in each fragment.
Apply Glossy accents to the front of your mitten. (The Stampin’ Up! paper is the back of their pop dots. I use it because it’s slick, and glitter doesn’t stick to it).
The paper on the right is what I used to smooth out the Glossy accents on the felt, then add glitter.
Make a loop with the same thread you used for the stitching, and tie a knot.
Gather up the fragment pieces, and tie a knot toward the top. With needle and thread sew them on the mittens. Do the same for the loop above.
I added more Glossy accents where I cut the thread so they would not fray.
I air brushed the Boa with the Tea Rose Copic Marker. Then used Glossy accents to attach to the mitten. When dry, I added my flower, bow, and heart stick pins.

Linda, this ornament is absolutely stunning. I love the blanket stitch around the edge, fragment charms, sprayed boa, and of course glitter. Can I be your adopted granddaughter? (Smile)

OMGosh what a Gorgeous little mitten Christmas ornament!! I love the soft colors!! So many Fantastic tips from the sewing to the charms and airbrushing the boa!! Great tip on using a piece of paper to spread the glossy accents around on the felt! Love all the glittery sparkle!! We'll have to chat one of the these days and catch up on things *wink* (((Hugs)))
