Hello dear blog friends, I hope you had a wonderful relaxing weekend like we did. I've been cleaning my craft room the last few days trying to clear out some old things, getting ready for new crafty items. Spellbinders has some great new things coming your way, but I can't speak of them yet wink! I donated seven boxes of goodies to our local Senior Center they do crafts twice a week, and were thrilled to get them.
Today's project is a little different, but I really enjoyed making this Vintage cell phone pouch. I have a iPhone with a hard cover, and I wanted something I could put it in when not in use. I’ll be honest and tell you I had no clue what the finished project would look like, I just knew I wanted something to cover my phone. Now my kids want one for their phone's LOL!!
I put my phone on ivory felt to see how wide I needed the material to be, and determine how long. By the time it was all said and done, my felt ended up being 4 1/2" x 14", and I cut two (one for the lining). The reason I made it so long is, I wanted a flap in the front to put some lace and flowers on. I cut some lace the same size as the felt, and glued it to one piece of the felt. With a beading needle, and FireLine beading thread I randomly stitched tiny pink beads in place, then glued the lining to the front lace/felt using Beacon's Fabri-Tac, folded up the bottom to create a pouch, and finished it off with a blanket stitch up the sides. Here's the best part... I used Spellbinders Artisan X-plorer™ to cut fabric and lace flowers using die templates (listed below), then glued them all together. Tied a couple of bows, then sprits everything with some Glimmer Mist (lightly). To finish it off, I strung tiny beads, and shaped one of Spellbinders Flowers One blank (Media Mixáge™), attached some bling in the center, and added some gold chain.
The reason my pouch is so wide is because my phone cover's bling sits up pretty high, so I needed the room to take it in and out. Different cell phones will have different measurements, so that's something to take into consideration. After making this one, I learned a lot.
That's it for me today, remember you can click on the pictures for a better view, and all supplies are listed below with links.
