Snowman Shaker Wand

Hi there, before I get started I wanted to mention this will be my last official post as a member of Spellbinders Blog Team.  It sounds odd saying that because I’ve been with them for the last 8 years, I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to be part of something wonderful, but I’m excited for what lays ahead whatever that might be.

I know it’s a little early to start making Christmas items, but I’m always last minute so I thought I should try and sneak some in LOL! 

• I started this snowman the same way I did with this project. Here is the supply list provided in the above link.
• Started with a round paper Mache ornament.
• Drilled a hole in it large enough to glue a wooden dowel in.
• Cover with paperclay (not to thick), let dry completely, I let mine sit overnight.
• When dry sand rough areas if needed.
• Paint entire piece with acrylic paint including the wooden dowel (I used a cream color).
• When paint dries, add a thin color wash over the entire piece, and let dry.
• Cut felt using Standard Circles die templates, the circle size you use will depend on the size of the ornament after it’s covered with paper clay.  I also die cut cardstock for the hat brim, and hat top so I could glue the felt to I
• Die cut cardstock using the Poinsettia die template, and shade with Distress Ink.
• Paint the eyes, nose, and cheeks, and then add lace/ribbon.
• That’s it.

Fabric Flower Sachet

Hello there, today I have a fun little project to share that's perfect for Mother's Day.  Actually it can be used for many occasions but since Mother's Day is right around the corner it's perfect.  Also I've linked two different video's that will show how to make the flower, and the sachet.  I want to mention that I used A Gilded Life's Garden Blooms die template by Spellbinders to make my flower, and in the video she mentions large circles, I used the largest flower die, and so on.  From fabric I cut a square the size I wanted, and sewed around the edges; turned it right side out then filled with French Lavender and rice.  When finished I glued the flower, ribbon, and a single rhinestone in the flower center.

Shabby Bezel #2

Hello there.  I’m back with another lovely Shabby Bezel to share with you today.  I love them, and so do my kids.  When I made this one here my kids wanted me to make one for each of them LOL! So this is one of three I will be making, they will all be similar is style, and materials but each one will be a little different.  The paper inside the bezel is a digital download called Victorian French Backgrounds by digital Paper...made with love.

Gift Bag & Pillow Box

Hello there.  It’s been awhile I know but I’ve been with my kids, and enjoying their company.  They keep me on my toes, always make me laugh, and I love every minute I’m with them. 

I enjoyed making today’s Pillow Box, and Gift Bag, they are fun AND fast to put together. The best part was adding all the embellishments that make them special for whatever occasion there are for. These makes me think of weddings, Mothers Day and Easter.

Shabby Bezel

Hello dear friends it’s been awhile I know, my family has been getting over that awful sickness, it’s hit everyone in our house.  Finally we are all up and around, and our days are back to normal.  I started feeling better and my granddaughter asked me if I would watch my new 3 month old great grandson until she could make other arrangements.  Of course I said yes, he is so cute, and we enjoyed him immensely while he was here, no bias here. :)

Today I have a project I truly love, and my plan is to make many more.  I can see this hanging on my Christmas tree, and many other places in my home.  It’s elegant and shabby, and easy to put together.  I started by applying a couple coats of acrylic paint to one of Spellbinders large bezels front and back.  While the back of the bezel was still wet I sprinkled on Glitter Glass, and then set it aside to dry.  I started working with my wire making jump rings, headpins, wire wraps and adding crystals together to attach to the bezel when it was dry (see picture below). 

 

I’ve had the cameo for quite a long time, and had just enough cup-chain to go around the cameo, and fit inside the bezel.  All that was left to do was make a few bows with buttons, and attach them to the bezel.  When I got it put together, I added the flower at the top to finish it off.

Shabby Banner

Hello again dear friends, as promised I’m back tonight with a shabby chic project to share with you.  I also want to thank you for your well wishes; they’re very much appreciated.  I feel MUCH better today ;) 

I wish you could see today’s project in person…  It’s so sweet and shabby, and my kind of wonderful LOL!  This little banner is hanging from seam binding that’s wrapped around a wooden dowel, and the same seam binding continues down both sides.  It has lots of layers and pretty flowers, but my favorite thing is the Royal Medallion in the center that’s painted with white acrylic paint that’s rubbed off just a little.  The inspiration for the dowel and the ribbon down the sides came from a project we made while at Spellbound a couple months ago.

Finishing up Christmas Gifts

Are you ready for Christmas?  I’m working like crazy to get things done here at my house, so today’s projects were really FAST and simple to put together.  I’ve had these lovely bags in my stash for quite some time, and they were perfect for our girl’s/granddaughter's gifts (5) total.  No they are not your traditional Christmas colors, but the kids love them.  I can’t show what’s inside right now, so I’ll save that till after Christmas because my girl’s check my blog ;)

New Christmas Ornament

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve been absent for awhile, but my family has had a lot of things going on, not to mention trying to get ready for Christmas.  First I wanted to tell you about this lovely little Christmas ornament I made.  Last month at Spellbound 3 in Pasadena, CA, I got to see Shea Fragoso and her mom Debbie Murray’s new line for A Gilded Life by Spellbinders, and this little church is one of their new dies called Beacon St. Chapel.  Here’s a tutorial showing you how to assemble that lovely little church.  Because I wanted to use this as an ornament, I did not add anything extra like a round base because it would be to heavy for the tree, so I left it sweet and simple. 

And here’s my little ornament on the tree.

 

So here is what has been going on for my family:

On December 1^st my lovely granddaughter had a beautiful baby boy.  He was premature, a little over 5 lbs, but he’s doing just fine.

On December 7^th, my mother-in-law Hazel passed away…  She fought a long hard battle with cancer.  We loved her much, and miss her more.

Last but not least, about 10 days ago California had a huge rain/wind storm.  My daughter and son-in-law have a large building that’s a furniture store.  When that storm hit, it blew half of the roof off, and damaged the furniture inside.

Keeping fingers crossed that 2015 is a better year for sure.

Holiday Stars

Hello again, I have another Christmas decoration to share with you today.  These little stars look perfect sitting on my piano, and so sweet.  They have lots of bling LOL!   They are in a mason jar that was painted with ivory acrylic paint, a Merry Christmas tag tied with ivory wrinkle ribbon, and gold shredding stuffed inside the jar.  The stars are the same front and back, glued on cake pop sticks, and bows tied with ivory ribbon and gold cord at the base of each star. I used Distress Ink to shade the seams, and added gold glass glitter for the finishing touch.

Decorated Christmas Bottle
