Hello there ladies, and welcome to another E-Team Blog Hop. For today's hop we were to use Copic Markers, and color a flower image/image's of our choice (I was thrilled) LOL! Before I get started about my project today, don't forget to visit Daisy at eclectic Paperie™, she will choose two lucky winners randomly from comments left on all Design Team Member blogs. Be sure and leave a comment on eP Blog for an additional chance to win an assortment of flower stamps, and four New Copic Color Sketch Markers. I believe Daisy even has a couple of $25 gift vouchers to eclectic Paperie... Comments begin Thursday June 16th (today) through Sunday, June 19th. Daisy will post all winners on eclectic Paperie™ blog Monday June 20th.
For my project today I picked these cute flower images from Crafty Secrets called Art Blooms available at eP. This stamp set has an array of individual pieces, so I thought I would try something a little different today. After I selected the images I wanted to use, I stamped each one three times, colored them with Copic Markers, and cut them out. I have a picture at the very bottom showing you how I taped each to a separate piece of paper, then covered them with Glossy Accents, and don't forget to let them dry. The reason I stamped each image three times is to do paper piecing, and cut each layer a little different than the one below it. I haven't made anything using this technique for quite some time, but it's lots of fun, and very rewarding.
I'm often asked what cardstock I use when I color with my Copic Markers... I use Whisper White, and Very Vanilla from Stampin' Up! When I first purchased my markers, that's what I had on hand, and still use them today. I'm also asked about what ink I use.. and I have always used Ranger's Adirondack Dye Pad. My color of choice is Latte, I find using black ink can make dainty little images look harsh. For example, I used Slate on today's project, I try not to have my ink take over my image. Lately my favorite color palette is pastel, seems like all of my current projects have been very pastel, and I love each one. As for shading tips, I have made a few video's (you can find them listed here on my blog sidebar under Categories/videos). I have truly changed my style, I don't follow general shading rule's, charts etc. now, I just do my own thing. However, when I say that, I have been working with Copic's for a few years now, and have become very comfortable with them. I was scared to death to work with them when I first started, and found that following the rules really helped :)

In this picture I wanted to show you I taped each image to a scrap piece of paper so they would stay flat, and used a paint brush I covered each image with Glossy accents for a thin (not to thick) layer over each piece. I think it looks really cool.
