E-Team Blog Hop with Studio 490

I picked Wendy's Art Parts Spool Set, and Art In Bloom stamp set because I love flowers, and I thought that little Spool set was darling, and the two together are so cute :)   All of the cardstock used on this project is from pinkpaislee Butterfly Garden Collection. The leaves, bumble bee and circles are from Spellbinders.  Filling the little bottles with Peony Dew Drops added the weight needed to hold the large flower, and were perfect in color.  I glued wire between the layers of the bee (cut/embossed two bees from regular cardstock and two from vellum cardstock) then put the other end into the bottle to hold in place.

I picked this darling little Birthday Elephant stamp set, and knew immeditally he needed a circus wagon to carry all of those birthday gifts LOL!!  I used Copic Markers to color the elephant,  I wanted this little guy to have more of a textured look instead of blending until smooth like you are supposed to do.

Crafty Secrets and eclectic Paperie (Shabby) Blog Hop

   

Hello and welcome to a special event with Crafty Secrets, and eclectic Paperie (Shabby) Blog Hop today.  I'm so fortunate to be a Designer for both of these fabulous Design Teams, and very talented Designers, so today is very exciting for me to be able to work with both at the same time.  :)

I've been on the Crafty Secrets Design Team for quite some time now, and hope I never have to leave.  I love all of their quality vintage/shabby products because I'm a shabby kind-a girl, like I've always said "I love all things vintage", and I don't believe that will every change.  So working with Crafty Secrets Products is like being a kid in a candy store LOL!!

I haven't been on eclectic Paperie's Design Team very long, but truly love being here. Daisy carries several different product lines including Crafty Secrets, so I get to work with products I never thought I would ever be interested in like "Grunge"...  As mentioned above being a vintage/shabby girl, I've learned that "Grunge" fits right into that vintage style that I love so much.  So, I'm lovin' being in the position of both Design Teams, that work so well together.

Butterfly Picture Frame - Spellbinders

Well, what do this think of the new blog look?  I received so many emails from you about my last banner being so dark, I thought I would change it once again.  The banner above is called Garden Girl, isn't she lovely, so vintage don't you think?  I can't take any credit for it except for picking it out.  The sweet young lady who created it is from Singapore, she has a Etsy Store so you can pick out what you like, plus if you need assistance uploading it to your blog, she can help you with that also.  Thank you Viola, for making such beautiful art.

The project I'm sharing with you today is a picture frame filled with lots goodies.  I haven't a clue what picture i'm going to put in it, but I sure enjoyed making it.  I started off making a card, by the time I put everything I wanted on it, it was much bigger then a card LOL!   I'm going to go through each eliment for you below: 

Butterfly:

Place Spellbinders Fanciful Flight die templet on your patterned cardstock, cut/emboss. Using the same die trace around the outside edge only this time on Wendy's Clearly Art Molding Film, cut out with sicissors, then attach to the first cut/embossed butterfly, and heat and shape.  With a separate sheet of cardstock (same as step one) trace around the outside edge, cut out using your sicissors.  Assemble by gluing together as shown in picture five. 

Flower Images:  All of the floral images in this project were scraps of webster's pages cardstock I had left over from prior projects, I just couldn't throw in the trash (listed below). 

Tissue Flower:  With Spellbinders Standard Circle die templet, cut multiple layers of tissue paper, then place a small amount of glue in the center of each one.  When dry lightly color with the Copic Markers.  Ruffel each layer pulling toward the center. Glue to white doily that is also colored with the same markers used in the flower. 

Center Doily: I had so much fun making this eyelet doily using Spellbinders Eyelte die template.  I cut/embossed the doily with vellum, then embossed it again using Spellbinders Flowers Impressabilities so I would have more of a lacy look, and lightly colored it with the same color of Copic Markers I used on the tissue flower above. It's so pretty in real life..

Crafty Secrets card CHA

Hello, here is a card I made for CHA 2011 in California and forgot to post it...  I just love how soft it is, and the colors are some of my favorites.  I have all supplies listed below for your convenience, and don't forget you can click on the picture for a larger view.  I receive lots of private emails asking what I've used on my projects, and I always have that information at the very end of my post with links.

One last thing, this is kinda touchy for me, and I don't quite know how to address it, so please don't take this wrong way. Recently I've received many private emails from a lot of you asking why I started covering up some of the detail with my watermark...  My answer is simple, but can sound harsh to many, and taken the wrong way, please know that is not my intent at all. E-Team Get Distressed Part 2 - eclectic Paperie

 

Hello, and welcome to part 2 of eclectic Paperies, Get Distressed Part 2 blog Hop.  Today the teams mission was to create something using the Wrinkle Free Distress Technique.  For more fun, Eclectic Paperie (Daisy) will be giving two lucky winners fun prizes (new products) from her store.  To be eligible, simply visit each participating blog listed below and leave a comment! As mentioned above, the E-Team was to make something using the Wrinkle Free Distress Technique.  I've never (maybe once) used this technique but found it to be quite fun.  I decided to make another framed art piece to match the one I made for eP's last blog hop (here) using Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts Sample Pack and Art Parts Clearly for Art Modeling File from eclectic Paperie.  In the supply list provided below, I have given colors used for the frame, and background etc.  I really wanted to show you a step-by-step on how I made the flower, however on Wendy's blog yesterday, she posted some great tips on this very topic...  Of course the project I'm sharing with you today was finished before I read Wendy's post, so I went back and changed my tutorial to matchWendy's recommendations (with a few differences).   The finished project is OK, but the finished flower at the very end of this post was finished using Wendy's suggestions.  I will point out what I did different as we go.  It's a long one, so grab some coffee and let's get started.

Tutorial

Cut both paper and Modeling Film.

Sponge.

Wendy mentions Ranger's new Glue N Seal for this step, but since I didn't have it, I used Glossy accents.  NOTE: Glossy accents can and will bubble with to much heat. Attach paper of the Modeling Film.

Like this.

Wendy mentions using a brayer to make sure all ridges etc. are smoothed out, I used a bone folder cause I couldn't find my brayer.  I will find it for future use... I think it would be much easier. 

Here is where I go a different direction from Wendy.  I like my flower petals facing up.  The first time I made this flower I burned the heck out of my fingers, so I went on a scavenger hunt looking for something that would hold my material in place while heating it and I would not burn my fingers.  That is the reason it took me so long to post this tutorial LOL!!  So, in my stach I found an old paper mache box top lid. (Hang with me).

Cut tissue paper in long strips.

And created a donut in the box lid making sure the center was open.

Then I found more round things in different sizes.  The smallest is from toilet paper LOL!!  Do the same as above with the tissue paper.

Here I'm just showing you how the different size flowers fit on the different size... what ever you want to call the round objects.  The two flowers in the center can use the same size round objects.

Find something to hold the flower while heating because it will blow away. Press down while heating, the tissue paper helps the paper/film from just dropping to the flat paper below, and kinda  adds shape.  When the material is all the way down in the center, QUICKLY take it out, and shape the edges.  Caution!!!  I will be hot so be careful. 

Do the same for all pieces including the leaves.

In this picture I made a boo boo, but wanted to show you so you will understand, while the flower is hot you can bend it quite a bit, but when it starts cooling off, and you keep trying to bend it, I noticed the paper will crack. But this is a project for the Distressed look right.  But the neat thing is, if I didn't like the shape of my flower all you have to do is reheat it and it goes completely flat so you can start all over again.  Pretty cool huh!!

 

Here is my finished flower.  The difference is my flowers on my projects have the Modeling Film on top of the paper, while this flower has the film (under) the paper so you don't get that shine. Wendy's Modeling Film is a wonderful product for flowers because the petals will hold there shape.  The flower in this picture is glued to some felt, and now I can wear it as a new broche for my jacket, or attach it to my purse, or a headband etc. etc.

It's endless :)

Meet Tammy–Spellbinders

I would like for you to meet our oldest daughter Tammy.  I haven’t posted her picture here on my blog for quite some time, but she is just a delight, and a very pretty young lady, not just on the outside, but she is just as pretty on the inside.  While she was in high school, she was quite a hand full for sure (nothing bad), just being a kid.  However, her and her husband Kelly have a very successful family business, and two wonderful girls that are seniors in high school that they are always with, and support them in their extra activities.  We are very proud of Tammy, she has that laugh that’s just contagious, and you can here her laugh anywhere.  She knows no strangers, and has tons of friends.  When we go to Halloween, Super Bowl, New Years Eve parties it’s always at their home in the country. For example, this years Halloween party there were about 250 people there that were all their friends.  Of course, their friends think that her mom and dad are pretty cool LOL!  Anyway, we love you much Tammy

I hope you are not getting tired of my flowers…  They are so much fun to do, and really add a special touch to any project.  I must tell you how much I love working with the Grand Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  Yep, they make scrapbooking, and card making much faster.
